Laura Ikauniece-Admiņa, a silver medallist of the European Athletics Championships and bronze medallist of the World Athletics Championships in heptathlon, was among the first to test the new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. Since Laura does not have a driving license as yet, she took part in the test drive together with her spouse Rolands, who is also a coach and a driving instructor. Laura sat behind the wheel in the race track at the “333” sports facility, while Rolands navigated through the urban traffic.
Rolands was the first to do the driving in the track. With rapid manoeuvres he demonstrated that the car is really very dynamic and sporty. Laura could not hold back her emotions: “Now I would not call you a sensible driver. Oh My God, Oh My God, Oh My God, it seems we’re going to tip over, the car cannot tip over, can it?! I don’t want to sit in the passenger seat! I think the driver does not feel the curves in the way the passenger does. It’s much harder to be a passenger”, Laura comments on her spouse Rolands’ driving habits.
When asked about the colour of the car, Laura says that a bright colour is not that important for a car – it is an outgoing personality behind the wheel that really matters. The married couple are very positive about the GLC Coupe design, describing it as elegant and having a fine sense of style. “The visual design of the car meets my criteria. Mercedes-Benz has done a good job indeed on the interior. The car is attractive both from the outside and inside. It looks great from the outside, especially the front grille. The wooden panel inside is very appealing, most likely, it is natural wood. You can feel the texture when you touch it. It looks really lovely. Great consideration has been paid to the interior – what you see is not just an enormous panel with numerous buttons all over. The panel looks very elegant – the buttons are lined up in two rows and do not seem to be too sophisticated. There is much free space left, so the exquisite wooden parts can be admired”, Laura commented on the car’s interior.
Laura often has to travel long distances to competitions; therefore she appreciates the comfort and functionality of the car. GLC Coupe satisfies these needs, and it is sufficiently comfortable and spacious to hold sports equipment. “I like the seats; they are shaped like for a sports car, though this one is more on the traditional side, but I feel like I’m in a sports car. The car fits both men and women. It is sort of sporty and at the same time classical, elegant, suits women, is not huge yet somewhat bigger than a regular car. Safe, too, because it is a 4x4. It is also suitable for families, since the trunk is big. It turned out it would even have enough space for javelins! It’s a great car, I would like to own one like that,” Laura remarked on the comfort the car is offering.
