The local music group DaGamba, sometimes called "the hooligans of classical music" due to their quests for new sounds through merging the musical traditions of East and West, took a ride with the new Mercedes-Benz Vito. The group has been together since 2001 and is composed of two well-known Latvian cellists Valters Pūce and Antons Trocjuks, a Lithuanian pianist Dainis Tenis and an Iranian percussionist Hamidreza Rahbaraalam.
When asked what is common to driving a vehicle and playing music, the group answered that both music and a car are like a road. "When you perform a complicated composition, it should be done with perfection; when you drive a car, everything should be perfect," the group comments. "Music is born right when you start a car. Cars can go both fast and slow, and you can also play music fast and slow. The same is true about volume. Music and a car are inseparable. It is quite curious that the music style of DaGamba is called crossover – and the automotive universe also has this term. We are quite close – us and cars", the group admits.
The musicians of the group describe their ride as extremely comfortable and cosy. "It feels so good, I have mastered everything, and we have already adjusted the bass settings. Music is very important." The musicians praise the new Mercedes-Benz Vito and enjoy the economical engine, the ease of driving and the comfortable layout where everything is exactly where it should be. The guys decide that this vehicle is definitely competitive in its own class. "I love the steering wheel, it is super gentle, and driving the van is actually a relaxation. It feels like being in paradise. The van runs so smoothly and fluently," Hamidreza Rahbaraalam comments. The group is surprised that they do not feel themselves like being in a van at all. Travelling is so easy.
What is it that inspires the musicians most when they travel with the new Mercedes-Benz Vito? "A good van, orderly environment and good company," is the answer of the group's percussionist.
The group gives concerts on a regular basis and long-distance travel is part of their day-to-day life: this is why passenger seats really matter, because you are there most of the time during the trip. The guys are happy that the Mercedes-Benz Vito is also perfect for taller people, as there is enough space for one's legs and the handle is easily adjustable for anyone. "The ride was ideal, we enjoyed it so much. We could go even as far as the States, only if there were a bridge," the group jokes.
