Delivering as much load capacity and reliability as the Sprinter, and all of the advantages of electric drive, the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter has already proven itself to be a trustworthy partner for city logistics, elsewhere in the world. Now, this van has come to Latvia.
‘The demand for electric vans is growing in Europe, and Latvia is no exception. Amazon, for example, has already ordered 1800 Mercedes-Benz electric vans for use in Europe, with 1200 of these specifically being eSprinters. A few Latvian courier and logistic service providers have also announced plans to replace their fleets with emission-free vehicles; this includes DHL Latvia, which will get its first Mercedes-Benz eSprinters early this year. Latvian cities planning to implement low-emissions zones, and setting restrictions for vehicles with internal-combustion engines in the coming years, gives rise to another factor that boosts the potential of this segment even further,’ Vitālijs Ročans, commercial director and board member of SIA Domenikss, said. ‘In making their decisions about upgrading or expanding their fleets, companies primarily look at the operating and maintenance costs of the vehicles, as well as driver comfort. They also increasingly view buying electric vehicles as an investment in the reputation of their brands. Sprinter has been a leader in the commercial vehicle sector for more than 25 years, with eSprinter created to continue this success story.’
eSprinter: adaptable to every company’s needs
With 11 m3 of cargo volume and a load capacity of up to 1040 kg, eSprinter is intended for transporting larger amounts of cargo.
eSprinter’s electric drive delivers 85 kW of power, and torque of up to 295 Nm. The vehicle’s battery capacity is 47 kWh, with a range of up to 168 kilometres. The version with a 35 kWh battery provides it with a range of up to 120 km.
Charges from 10 to 80% in just 30 minutes
In its standard version, eSprinter has two charging ports. One is for alternating current, with 7.4 kW maximum charging power, while the other accepts direct current, and up to 80 kW of charging power. The vehicle’s integrated quick-charge function makes it possible to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 25–30 minutes. Charging a 47 kW battery from zero to 100% takes 8 hours, and 6 hours for a 35 kW battery.
eSprinter has three drive modes: E, C and four energy recovery levels, D-, D, D+ and D++, switchable using a paddle shifter on the steering wheel. Depending on the mode, the eSprinter expends energy to achieve longer ranges, or better comfort. Adjustments to the maximum speed of the vehicle can be introduced depending on its purpose, with settings of 80 km/h, 100 km/h or 120 km/h.
