SIA “Vides investīciju fonds” has announced a support program for the purchase of zero-emission and low-emission vehicles developed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (MEPRD). The program envisages co-financing of 4,500 euros for the purchase of electric cars, and 2,250 euros for the purchase of a new plug-in hybrid and used electric car. Individuals - permanent residents of the Republic of Latvia, can apply for support until 31 December 2023 or while funding is available.
The program for the purchase of zero-emission and low-emission vehicles with a total funding of 10 million euros is being implemented in order for Latvia to successfully achieve the set goal of achieving at least 55% lower greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to 1990.
Mercedes-Benz AG, on the other hand, has set itself the goal of achieving complete climate neutrality by 2039. The company is moving towards this goal at an impressive pace. It is planned that by the end of this year, a fully electric car under the Mercedes-EQ brand will be available in each segment represented by the manufacturer, and more than 130 models will be in production. By contrast, by 2025, electric cars will already account for 15-25% of Mercedes-Benz AG's total sales.
In turn, 8 “plug-in” hybrid and 5 electric Mercedes-Benz models are currently available in Latvia. The following Mercedes-Benz cars qualify for state aid:
Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 E (H)
