Daimler AG representative in Latvia Domenikss Ltd. has added state-of-the-art wheel geometry testing and adjustment device "Hunter HTA-MBHD" for commercial vehicles to the service centre. The new system is the industry's first and only system capable of measuring three axes simultaneously in just three minutes.
Domenikss Ltd. has invested EUR 37,000 in the implementation of the new device. “The HTA-MBHD system is the first in the list of the Mercedes-Benz approved wheel geometry test and alignment devices for commercial vehicles. It is equipped with high precision wireless sensor heads, and the roll compensation is performed with Hunter vehicle push device. Hunter engineers have worked closely with Mercedes-Benz to develop exclusively customized software with greater speed and accuracy than a conventional adjustment device. It also ensures that measurements are made in relation to the frame centre axis and axle axis,” explains Maris Putnieks, Domenikss Ltd. commercial vehicle service manager.
The recommended time for preventive wheel geometry check is during annual regular maintenance and every time the tires are changed. “Testing should also be considered in cases where the vehicle has been involved in a road traffic accident, where one of the axles is struck or the frame is suspected to be deformed. It is also advisable to carry out a service test if an irregular tire wear is noticed or when the steering wheel is skew when driving on a straight road, the car is being "pulled right" or "pulled left". This will save money on extraordinary tire changes, and, by reducing rolling resistance, will also significantly reduce fuel consumption,” Mr. Putnieks notes.
Wheel geometry testing and adjustment device provides wheel geometry testing and adjustment service for all Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles, starting with Actros, Arocs, Axor, Atego trucks, Mercedes-Benz buses, MB Sprinter and Citan vans. The new device also allows measurements and adjustments to be made for other brands of trucks and commercial vehicles.
